Miniature Brass and Enamel Cartier Musical Alarm Clock 1960s

Offered in the 1960s, this musical desk/travel alarm clock, as far as our extensive research has shown, was produced as a limited-edition collection for either the Cartier Rome or Milan locations. Featuring a red and green enamel-filled gilt brass construction, this perfectly circular 30mm musical desk clock is visually distinct, but more to the point, it is also aurally distinct. Indeed, this is a musical desk clock that plays Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik: 3rd Movement.

Distinguished as part of the limited edition collection by its red and green enamel-filled construction, of the handful of other examples that have surfaced, only one has played the same music as this example, which recently sold with Sotheby's for €46,600 after fees.

Boasting a pristine, bright silver dial, this example is in quite exceptional condition throughout, with its enamel featuring no cracks, delamination, colour loss, deep scratches, or other signs of damage or repair. Likewise, the gilt brass construction is free from all signs of corrosion or wear and tear. Indeed, this example is visually as good as it can get.

It has been mechanically overhauled to ensure correct functioning, with its movement boasting accurate time-keeping; its Reuge music box plays its music when the alarm goes off, and both its winding crowns (which also act as legs) are functioning as they should. All in all, this desk clock functions perfectly.

This clock comes complete with a non-Cartier box that it fits into perfectly, and no papers or other documentation.
